How to cut a resume to one page
- Delete roles older than 10–15 years, or collapse them into one line each.
- Keep 3–5 bullets per recent role and only those that match the job you want.
- Merge short bullets that describe the same achievement.
- Drop “References available on request”, full street address and objective statements.
- Tighten wording: “Was responsible for managing” becomes “Managed”. The action verbs list helps.
- Only then adjust margins (not below 0.5 in) and font size (not below 10 pt).

Does resume length affect ATS parsing?
Parsers read multi-page resumes fine. Length matters for the human reader, and a very thin resume may simply not contain the keywords a recruiter searches for.
